In other non-book news, I just saw Dr. Oz taking about alternative remedies for migraines – he mentioned a homeopathic med called Feverfew – anyone ever taken it with any success? I’m thinking of trying it because, hey, why not? Especially since this migraine has been here since, oh Tuesday. I swear, it’s going to snow – I don’t care what the weather people say – this is a snowgraine for sure.

Okay, back to typing in the 25 longhand pages of Unbreakable (the new Section 8 romantic suspense I’m working on). And I should have some news on the Reid/ Grier book soon as well!

Updates for the new year…

Okay, a few updates before I head back to the deadline cave where I resided for the better half of the last year It’s likely not to change, which is a very, very good thing.

Obviously, my website has been revamped – it’s it gorgeous?! Waxcreative, as always, exceeded my expectations! So now it reflected the wolf as well as the romantic suspenses and I think it ties in so well.

Wax also redid the Sydney Croft page as well!

So, upcoming – and SOON – is the prequel to the Eternal Wolf Clan series – Dire Warning! It releases February 7th and then Dire Needs: Book 1 in the EWC series comes out March 6th!

For those who’ve been asking about poor Reid and Grier from Night Moves, yes, I totally plan to do something for them before the new suspense series begins in 2013 – I promise to keep you posted!

Other than that, I’m diving into the first of the new romantic suspense series – the book is currently titled Unbreakable and the series is called Section 8. I just handed in book 2 in the Eternal Wolf Clan series and I’m getting ready for a blog tour for the upcoming releases. And, I’m also going to try to blog here more.

Stop laughing. Just keep staring at Rifter over there on the left. And I’ll update here for the blog tour because there will be giveaways along the way! Hope everyone’s doing well and having a good start to 2012 – we had our first dusting of snow last night so it’s finally starting to feel like winter. I like winter. Probably because I commute from the bedroom to the kitchen and back…

I did not need the heart attack on a plate from the squirrel that jumped through the lattice fencing out of my shed AT me this morning. All I was trying to do was take out the garbage. Instead, I think I taught my neighbors many new curse words. I mean, it’s not like I live in the middle of the woods. I don’t understand this at all.

But cursing always reminds me of the phrase, cursing like a sailor. Which reminds me of SEALs. Which reminds me…I’m thrilled to have been asked to be part of a SEAL anthology that comes out in November ! All the proceeds from this antho go straight to the Veterans Medical Research Foundation. The complete website’s coming soon, but you can still visit it for some information – or to stare more at the cover. There are so many wonderful authors involved – it’s going to be awesome! And I believe there will be romance trading cards of the cover available at RWA!

Speaking of RWA, Larissa is slowly UPS’ing me her entire life in preparation for the conference. I might need another house just to put the various things I’m getting, like all her shoes. Chapsticks. Jar openers. And other random packages. She and Bryan will be hanging here over the weekend before they head in for the RWA conference. I’ll be there starting Tuesday. It’s going to be insane, but fun.

Sneak Peeks & Mountain Lions

So this morning my mom’s driving me up to get my bloodwork done (because of this horrible migraine and I don’t drive when I’m on the meds) and she’s telling me about all the mountain lions spotted in Connecticut and New York, like, five minutes away. Like, where Zoo and Gus run through the nature study woods.

Will the mountain lion play with me?!

And I’m like, you know, I’m betting it’s a family of shifters who moved into the area!

Mom: What are you talking about?

Me: A family of mountain lion shifters. Like, they’re people who can become mountain lions. How cool is that?

Mom: You’re really nuts, you know that?

I knew you all would understand.

Anyway, my NAL paranormal series has titles and a series name! Book one is Dire Needs: A Novel of the Eternal Wolf Clan and, according to Amazon, it’s available March 6, 2012! I should have cover copy approved soon (and a cover) but you can find out a little more about the series here. I’m having a blast writing these books! Oh, and yes, it’ll be available on Kindle and Nook and such, but sometimes those links take a little longer to go up.

I’ve also got an In The Air Tonight sneak peek up here and a Night Moves sneak peek up here. So lots of sneak peek goodness!

Also, Sydney Croft’s Taken By Fire, ACRO Book 6 got a Top Pick from RT Book Reviews! Of course, a certain 11 month old shredded the magazine beyond repair so I don’t have the actual review, but it was a great one!

I’m in the middle of writing a couple of proposals and waiting to hear some news on something. Well, actually, I’ve heard some news, but I can’t share it yet. So fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly. I’ll let you all know as soon as I can!

In a couple of weeks, RWA NYC will be upon me, so I’m trying to prep for that. Larissa and her husband will be staying here for a few days before the conference, too, so it’ll be great to spend some downtime with them before the madness of the conference begins. The conference is always a bit overwhelming to me but I’m excited to catch up with writing buds and blogging friends I’ll be meeting for the first time!

Yes, I realize it’s been a million years since I’ve been here – deadlines got me for most of January but I knew you’d all understand. Promise to be back soon! But here’s a drive-by, since I have several things due by the 15th and must get cracking…

Code Word: Storm was an ACRO short story in The Mammoth Book of Special Ops that came out in May 2010. It’s a Sydney Croft (aka me and Larissa Ione) story featuring Creed and Annika, set between Riding the Storm and Unleashing the Storm. And now, it’s going to be available for you to purchase as a stand-alone eBook to have alongside your other ACRO books! And, to make it even better, it will be packaged together with Shiloh Walker‘s short story, Don’t Walk Away, from the same Mammoth Book!

We’re really excited to package these rereleases together – we don’t have an exact release date yet (we’re doing this ourselves, but it won’t be too much longer ) and it’ll be up on Amazon and B&N and other eBook sites.

Anyway, isn’t the cover we had made beautiful?! I love it! I’ll keep you guys apprised of the details as soon as we solidify everything.

Thanks for the congrats, everyone! Baby boy is doing well – he’s really happy and easy and he’s always hungry, which is a good thing.

As for the title of the post, it’s not that I haven’t been working, but I’ve definitely taken some time off because I kind of can’t stop holding this baby. He’s addictive, you know? But then yesterday, I finally started to feel that writing urge, the one I can’t ignore, which means writing is slowly nudging its way back into being a priority. And now it’s become something I can’t ignore, which is a good thing. Because really, the job has to be something I love enough to want to tear myself away from both the kids.

And I kind of missed Sydney Croft’s TEMPTING THE FIRE‘S release day! TwinMom wrote up a great review here (thanks, TwinMom!) It’s book 4 in the ACRO series, starring Logan and Sela…and there’s lots of Marlena in there, for those who’ve written to ask when she’s going to get her HEA! Thanks to all the Syd readers who ran out and bought the book and continue to talk up the series – it’s so much fun for Larissa and I to write.

TAKEN BY FIRE, Syd book 6, is nearly done with revisions (and they were minor, so YAY!)…we should have a cover really soon. Mace’s book, IN THE AIR TONIGHT, is being revised as we speak – I found out it’s got a tentitive release date of August 2011…the book that follows (aka the book I have no idea who the hero is or what it’s about) is scheduled for October 2011. And today, I need to do a final read-thru for PROMISES IN THE DARK and then it’s done, done, done.

How’re you all doing? Busy summer? Reading / watching anything good? Deadliest Catch was really hard to watch this season…

betcha think the spiders got me…

But they didn’t. Granted, I did get stung on my back by a bee yesterday. While sitting in bed writing. And it’s the second time in my life I got stung on my back by a bee in bed.

What? I can’t make this stuff up, people.

Oh, and the exterminator recommended a spider brush to me – he’s like, they sell them at Home Depot. And I’m picturing this big brush that you whack spiders to death with.

Exterminator: You take the brush and you catch the spiders in them. Then you take the brush outside and shake the spiders out.

Me: Wait a minute, I’m supposed to carry a live spider through the house on a brush? Isn’t there a brush where a little man comes out of the top and smashes the spider to death? Because that’s a brush I want.

That’s when he gave up talking spider brushes and just sprayed the windows.

Anyway, so I’ve got to finish the draft of a book by May 31st. Pray for me, because it’s going to be tight. It’s in the, oh my god, what was I thinking, stage, right on target, right around the page count that I always want to throw the book out the window. This is Mace’s book (no pub date yet) but I do get to keep it’s original title, IN THE AIR TONIGHT. It fits the book perfectly so I’m thrilled my editor loves it!

Larissa and I also got a title for Sydney book 6…TAKEN BY FIRE. Loving that one too.

Just got copy edits for PROMISES IN THE DARK, which is exciting – means the book is kind of thisclose to getting put to bed. Can’t stop looking at the cover, either.

Okay, how AWESOME was Gray’s Anatomy last night? I was literally hanging onto the bed every time it came back from commercial – talk about moving forward relentlessly. It was probably my favorite episode of all time. Real Housewives of New York was good too, but kind of sad. Kelly needs help. Fast.

New York Times Bestseller List!!!

So I got the phone call last night from my agent and my editor that HOLD ON TIGHT hit the New York Times Bestseller List at #22!!!!!

I still can’t really believe it. I mean, last night, I was hyperventilating and in a general state of, well, stunned. Like, really and truly and I’m so absolutely thrilled and thankful and grateful to all the people who bought the books and talked them up and blogged them. You guys are awesome!

Even better, I get to share the thrill with Larissa Ione – we released the same day and her book, Ecstacy Unveiled, hit the New York Times at #23 and the USA Today Bestseller List at #58 (she’s hit both lists before and she just keeps climbing higher – I’m so proud of her!)

Larissa and I have done a lot together – I mean, we write together as Sydney Croft. But it’s more than that – we sold our own first project within three days of one another. She hit the Times with her third single title. I hit it with mine. And we’re right next to each other. And we have purple covers. So it’s really strange and really cool at the same time.

Zoo had a work dinner last night – when he came home, he said, you’d have thought I hit the list – everyone was buying me shots and drinks and stuff!

For the record, I had a brownie for dinner. I know – I’m actually pretty happy about that. Chocolate for dinner – who can complain?
