My 2014 RT panel schedule

…as Stephanie Tyler, Sydney Croft & SE Jakes….and sometimes, all of me!  Hope to see many of you in New Orleans :)

Wednesday, May 14th

- 1:15 − 2:15 – Panel: LGBTQ: Beyond the Pronouns: Why LGBTQ Romance May Be Your New Favorite Genre

Join some of the genre’s favorite authors to explore the many types of romance that fall under the LGBTQ umbrella—from sexuality (m/m, lesbian, ménage) to gender (trans, queer, questioning) to tropes (Gay For You, coming out, historical concerns)—and how they’re popping up in the most unexpected places.

Moderator: Sarah Frantz (Riptide Publishing, Senior Editor)
Panelist(s): Suzanne Brockmann / Heidi Belleau/ SE Jakes/ K.A. Mitchell/ Marie Sexton
Location: 4th Floor
Room: Regent

- 2:30-3:30 PM- Panel: Double Trouble: Writing With a Partner

We all have the image of the lonely writer, typing away on their computer in some dark, isolated room. But what if you prefer to share the experience? There are unique rewards and challenges for writers who collaborate. How do you team up without wanting to choke your partner? How do you share two ideas and mold them into one? How do you surrender some of yourself? And more importantly, is it worth it? We think so, and we’ll teach you the tricks of writing with a partner because we’ve all done it. Some of us are even married to our partners. But even if you’re not interested in writing with someone, it is essential that all writers learn to collaborate. All of us have to deal with readers, editors, proofreaders, etc. And even beyond that, successful collaboration skills are a major key to success in life. Join us and learn our secrets!

Panelist(s): Ilona Andrews (aka Ilona and Gordon Andrews) Susan & Clay Griffith/ Larissa Ione/ Alexandra Ivy /Stephanie Tyler/ Laura Wright

Room: Balcony K

- 11:15 − 12:15 – Panel:  Digital DIY: The Pros & Cons of Digital Self-Publishing

Today anyone can self-publish digital books. But who can best utilize this mode of publishing? What are the benefits and pitfalls? What are the contractual issues to consider when e-publishing works that have been previously published? These questions and others will be addressed in this comprehensive, unbiased Q&A.

- 1:55 − 2:25PM Riptide Publishing Publisher’s Spotlight  (Location: Fourth Floor, Balcony 1)

So, yesterday, this happened…

From Heroes and Heartbreakers:  SE Jakes is Stephanie Tyler

(from the press release:)RunningWild_Final-3

Today Riptide Publishing, home to LBGTQ fiction, announces that their author SE Jakes is also bestselling author Stephanie Tyler (the Defiance series).  (Click here for the rest of the article.)

And then USA Today interviewed…all of me today.  vipers_276

So, I’ve got another name, besides Tyler and Croft :) And I’ll be at RT as…all of them!  It’s been a wild and fun ride and I’m thrilled to find out that I’ve got a lot of readers who’ve actually been reading all the names without realizing it.  Very cool!

What does this mean for Tyler?  Well, it’s really just business as usual around here.  The Vipers MC books and the SE Jakes Havoc MC books will be sharing an overreaching universe (ie, I’ll be mentioning the Tyler MC in the Jakes salvation_276books), but there’s no crossover storylines in the books (which means you won’t be missing any of the Vipers story if you only read the Tyler books and vice-versa).  But if you’re interested in what SE Jakes has to offer, you can check out SEJakes.com.  And Sydney Croft will also be writing a novella for Riptide’s Charity Antho this year, which comes out in November.

And next week, Salvation:  Defiance 3 comes out!  So MCs for all!

I’ve been writing SEJ since March of 2011, and I write for both Samhain and Riptide while continuing Tyler and Croft. So, I’ve been busy.  Good busy, though.

Dire Needs giveaway at Larissa’s Blog!

My writing partner and partner in crime, the amazing Larissa Ione is giving away three ARCs of Dire Needs today on her blog so go for a chance to win!  The contest will run for 24 hours, so everyone will have a chance to put their names in!

In other non-book news, I just saw Dr. Oz taking about alternative remedies for migraines – he mentioned a homeopathic med called Feverfew – anyone ever taken it with any success?  I’m thinking of trying it because, hey, why not?  Especially since this migraine has been here since, oh Tuesday.  I swear, it’s going to snow – I don’t care what the weather people say – this is a snowgraine for sure.

Okay, back to typing in the 25 longhand pages of Unbreakable (the new Section 8 romantic suspense I’m working on).  And I should have some news on the Reid/ Grier book soon as well!

Oh, and if you’re on Pinterest, come friend me!  It’s my newest addiction :0

Updates for the new year…

Okay, a few updates before I head back to the deadline cave where I resided for the better half of the last year :)  It’s likely not to change, which is a very, very good thing.

Obviously, my website has been revamped – it’s it gorgeous?!  Waxcreative, as always, exceeded my expectations!  So now it reflected the wolf  as well as the romantic suspenses and I think it ties in so well.

Wax also redid the Sydney Croft page as well!

So, upcoming – and SOON – is the prequel to the Eternal Wolf Clan series – Dire Warning!  It releases February 7th and then Dire Needs:  Book 1 in the EWC series comes out March 6th!

For those who’ve been asking about poor Reid and Grier from Night Moves, yes, I totally plan to do something for them before the new suspense series begins in 2013 – I promise to keep you posted!

Other than that, I’m diving into the first of the new romantic suspense series – the book is currently titled Unbreakable and the series is called Section 8.  I just handed in book 2 in the Eternal Wolf Clan series and I’m getting ready for a blog tour for the upcoming releases.  And, I’m also going to try to blog here more.

Stop laughing.  Just keep staring at Rifter over there on the left.  And I’ll update here for the blog tour because there will be giveaways along the way!  Hope everyone’s doing well and having a good start to 2012 – we had our first dusting of snow last night so it’s finally starting to feel like winter.  I like winter.  Probably because I commute from the bedroom to the kitchen and back…

Taken By Fire release day!

Sydney Croft’s 6th ACRO book, TAKEN BY FIRE, releases today – just in time for the RWA literacy signing tonight at the Mariott Marquis in New York City between 5:30 & 7:30 It’s open to the public and a ton of romance authors are signing, so if you’re in the area, come check it out.

TAKEN BY FIRE – ACRO BOOK 6

HIS MISSION WAS TO TAKE HER OUT…BUT DESIRE GOT IN THE WAY.

A product of genetic manipulation, Melanie Milan shares a body with her malevolent sister Phoebe. A sleek,   blonde predator with a heart of pure darkness, Phoebe puts their body through the wicked underbelly of sex for thrills—when she’s not igniting her pyrokinetic skills for an evil organization bent on taking over the world. Melanie rarely gets out to play—much less fall in love. But that changes when rival ARCO agent Stryker Wills shows up, with a mission to take out the woman who torched his partner.

An operative with rare abilities, Stryker soon realizes that the woman he’s about to kill isn’t the murderous fire starter he’s hunting. But he does want her. Melanie, with the power to ice anything in her path, is heating things up in ways that are setting his blood on fire. As long as Melanie stays in control, she is his best ally to bring down her sister and stop hellish havoc from being unleashed. Walking a tightrope of longing and hate, Stryker and Melanie begin to understand that true power lies in sweet surrender to each other, to the fire between them, to the erotic adventure that’s joined their hearts and abilities to become their salvation—and perhaps the world’s.

***

I’m leaving for they city in a few – I get to meet with my NAL editor and my agent and then hang out with friends at the literacy signing.  It’s going to be a busy few days and I’m hoping to see many of you there!  Please come say hi if you see me!

Seriously…

I did not need the heart attack on a plate from the squirrel that jumped through the lattice fencing out of my shed AT me this morning.  All I was trying to do was take out the garbage.  Instead, I think I taught my neighbors many new curse words.  I mean, it’s not like I live in the middle of the woods.  I don’t understand this at all.

But cursing always reminds me of the phrase, cursing like a sailor.  Which reminds me of SEALs.  Which reminds me…I’m thrilled to have been asked to be part of a SEAL anthology that comes out in November !  All the proceeds from this antho go straight to the Veterans Medical Research Foundation.  The complete website’s coming soon, but you can still visit it for some information – or to stare more at the cover.  There are so many wonderful authors involved – it’s going to be awesome!  And I believe there will be romance trading cards of the cover available at RWA!

Speaking of RWA,  Larissa is slowly UPS’ing me her entire life in preparation for the conference.  I might need another house just to put the various things I’m getting, like all her shoes.  Chapsticks.  Jar openers.  And other random packages.  She and Bryan will be hanging here over the weekend before they head in for the RWA conference.  I’ll be there starting Tuesday.  It’s going to be insane, but fun.

Finally, last but not least, today, I’m over at Marie Force’s Bookclub Blog (thanks to Kara, Ronlyn & Marie!) – they’re talking about LIE WITH ME, so pop over and say hi and you’ll be entered for a chance to win the giveaways!

Sneak Peeks & Mountain Lions

So this morning my mom’s driving me up to get my bloodwork done (because of this horrible migraine and I don’t drive when I’m on the meds) and she’s telling me about all the mountain lions spotted in Connecticut and New York, like, five minutes away.  Like, where Zoo and Gus run through the nature study woods.

Will the mountain lion play with me?!

And I’m like, you know, I’m betting it’s a family of shifters who moved into the area!

Mom:  What are you talking about?

Me:  A family of mountain lion shifters.  Like, they’re people who can become mountain lions.  How cool is that?

Mom:  You’re really nuts, you know that?

I knew you all would understand.

Anyway, my NAL paranormal series has titles and a series name!  Book one is Dire Needs:  A Novel of the Eternal Wolf Clan and, according to Amazon, it’s available March 6, 2012!  I should have cover copy approved soon (and a cover) but you can find out a little more about the series here.  I’m having a blast writing these books!  Oh, and yes, it’ll be available on Kindle and Nook and such, but sometimes those links take a little longer to go up.

I’ve also got an In The Air Tonight sneak peek up here and a Night Moves sneak peek up here. So lots of sneak peek goodness!

Also, Sydney Croft’s Taken By Fire, ACRO Book 6 got a Top Pick from RT Book Reviews!  Of course, a certain 11 month old shredded the magazine beyond repair so I don’t have the actual review, but it was a great one!

I’m in the middle of writing a couple of proposals and waiting to hear some news on something.  Well, actually, I’ve heard some news, but I can’t share it yet.  So fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly.  I’ll let you all know as soon as I can!

In a couple of weeks, RWA NYC will be upon me, so I’m trying to prep for that.  Larissa and her husband will be staying here for a few days before the conference, too, so it’ll be great to spend some downtime with them before the madness of the conference begins.  The conference is always a bit overwhelming to me but I’m excited to catch up with writing buds and blogging friends I’ll be meeting for the first time!

An eBook from Sydney Croft & Shiloh Walker

Yes, I realize it’s been a million years since I’ve been here – deadlines got me for most of January but I knew you’d all understand. Promise to be back soon!  But here’s a drive-by, since I have several things due by the 15th and must get  cracking…DeadlyDesires

Code Word: Storm was an ACRO short story in The Mammoth Book of Special Ops that came out in May 2010.  It’s a Sydney Croft (aka me and Larissa Ione) story featuring Creed and Annika, set between Riding the Storm and Unleashing the Storm. And now, it’s going to be available for you to purchase as a stand-alone eBook to have alongside your other ACRO books! And, to make it even better, it will be packaged together with Shiloh Walker‘s short story, Don’t Walk Away, from the same Mammoth Book!

We’re really excited to package these rereleases together – we don’t have an exact release date yet (we’re doing this ourselves, but it won’t be too much longer ) and it’ll be up on Amazon and B&N and other eBook sites.

Anyway, isn’t the cover we had made beautiful?!  I love it!  I’ll keep you guys apprised of the details as soon as we solidify everything.
