I have so SO many books in my TBR pile at the moment that I’m dying to get to, but until I finish up a few things, there’s no way. Sneaking in a few chapters here and there never works, especially if I fall in love with the book, because then I have to devour it in one sitting and the day is gone. I’ve always been an, all or nothing, kind of reader.

it’s only Wednesday?

Feels like it should be Friday. Thursday, at least…

Okay, so the second 1/3 of Linger is a go with a few easy additions and changes. I’ve got a list of scenes I need to add in and flesh out but it’s all basically come together. Which is a relief because I do love this book again. Next up is working on Shadow Play (the Sydney Croft novella) and sketching out Nick’s book (Too Hot To Hold) in between the copy edits and revisions of some other books. And RWA is, like, 3 weeks away. So there’s shopping that needs to be done. Hopefully, most of it can be done online. Because shopping? *shudders*

Did you see that Paula Abdul has a new reality show starting at the end of this month? I’m totally going to have to watch it. The premiere of Rescue Me was…meh and I really do miss Rock Star.

Okay, back to work. Or some semblance of it. In the meantime, go ahead – take the quiz. You know you want to. (FYI – this has always been one of my favorite paintings…not sure what that says about me)

First of all, I’m having a wonderful release month (and trying to ignore migraine from hell) – I’ve gotten so many wonderful emails from readers who’ve enjoyed Coming Undone - reader mail is THE most wonderful thing ever!!!:biggrin:

(random aside: One of my favorite sites, Astrology for Writers, is gone. Page no longer found. Jule Hill, where are you!?!)

Anyway, I’m neck-deep in revisions for both Hard To Hold (aka Jake’s book) and Linger. I’m loving the edits on the Jake book – adore them. The whole story is there – it just needs to be dug out and moved around and every time I work on something more of the story falls into place. I’ve never had so much fun revising ever.

Linger? Not so much. But it’ll all work out.

And, since I’m still trying to decide what kind of tattoo I want in honor of my first book sale, I took the, What Tattoo Should You Get, quiz. Obviously, this quiz does not know me at all, since I despise butterflies. They scare me and gross me out. I’ve referred to them, at one time or another, as worms with wings. Even my former students knew it – there was the one time that 40 eighth graders tried to drag me into the butterfly house at the Bronx Zoo (OMG – butterflies actually LAND on you – that should be illegal)

It was closed for repairs. If I’d been forced inside, I don’t know what would’ve happened.

baking & a christmas ornament quiz

Between yesterday and today, I’m doing my Christmas baking. Because (oh, another thing I do to drive my editor crazy – starting sentences with because! Hopefully she is too busy deleting the becauses from my manuscript to read my blog)…anyway, where was I, oh, right – Christmas baking because even though I don’t cook, I do like to bake. Except that I haven’t done any Christmas baking for the past few years. So I promised the husband I’d do it this year.

So I’ve got to make pumpkin and apple pies, butter cookies with the cookie press this year I’m also making PBW’s No Brainer Fudge…I tried the recipe last week and it’s so easy and SO good. (note to self: you also use so too much in your manuscripts. Blogging may be ruining your life.)

This is, of course, completely true. No matter what Larissa says:

no really, I’m working over here…

I didn’t get nearly as much done this past week as I would’ve liked. Between the husband being away, the kid not sleeping well and my migraine, writing was sporadic. I did spend a lot of time thinking – which I know looks a lot like I’m just staring into space or at the TV, but honestly, the brain was going a million miles an hour.

The problem is that I have several things that are in the revision and /or copy edit stage, which is cool because revising under an editor’s direction is something I’m really enjoying. But I also feel that whole, I need to start something new, jones rear its head. And I’ve got so many different things I’d like to start to work on that I can’t decide which direction to move in.

I know that when this happens (because trust me, it happens several times a year until I’m happily working on 4 things at once), it’s my mind’s way of telling me that it’s just not ready yet. Still, it’s my natural instinct to fight to get something down on paper because I really like to write and I get frustrated with myself when things aren’t happening. Impatient much? But this process has gotten me through the writing of many books and proposals, and I need to stop fighting it.

What I do make myself do during times like this though, is get ahead on other things – like putting together website updates that I need Bekke’s help with, finishing my bio for the HQ site, ordering business cards and generally trying to get the business side of this writing gig organized.

What should’ve happened yesterday:
Husband: Want to order a movie?
Me: No! Absolutely not! I have work to do.
Husband: I’m so proud of you and your strict work ethic. Go to it!

What really happened yesterday:
Husband: Want to order a movie?
Me: Sure. And let’s make popcorn too.

But after the movie I did go and work. Normally I can get chapters 1 – 3 down pretty much in order, but that’s not happening this time. For one of the books, anyway. Maybe it will go better today. So I’m headed back to work (no, really.)
