Dire Needs giveaway at Larissa’s Blog!

My writing partner and partner in crime, the amazing Larissa Ione is giving away three ARCs of Dire Needs today on her blog so go for a chance to win!  The contest will run for 24 hours, so everyone will have a chance to put their names in!

In other non-book news, I just saw Dr. Oz taking about alternative remedies for migraines – he mentioned a homeopathic med called Feverfew – anyone ever taken it with any success?  I’m thinking of trying it because, hey, why not?  Especially since this migraine has been here since, oh Tuesday.  I swear, it’s going to snow – I don’t care what the weather people say – this is a snowgraine for sure.

Okay, back to typing in the 25 longhand pages of Unbreakable (the new Section 8 romantic suspense I’m working on).  And I should have some news on the Reid/ Grier book soon as well!

Oh, and if you’re on Pinterest, come friend me!  It’s my newest addiction :0

Dire Needs ARC winner & a short story…

Winner of the Dire Needs ARC is Linda Scarchuk, as chosen by Zoo, because he can be as random as any random number generator!  Linda, just email me your addy and I’ll get the ARC out to you.  And it’s not the last contest for ARCs – promise!  And thanks so much for making release day for Dire Warning so much fun :)

And now, a short story for your reading pleasure:

You know when you tell your husband something like maybe you should buy a second can of the same exact paint with the built-in primer since that’s what you started painting the living room with and he says something like, the primer’s already worked with the first coat so I can just buy the regular pain without primer and you say something like, but I think it would be best if you continued with the same exact thing you started with and he comes home with the regular non-primer paint and says, the guy in the paint store said it would be fine and then you look at the paint job the next morning in the light and you can clearly see where the paint with primer was applied and where it wasn’t?

Yes, that. In my living room at the present time.

Moral of story – I win!!! And somehow lose, all at the same time.

RR@H Novel Thoughts & Book Talk Blog has started a new feature, Teaser Tuesday, and they’re featuring DIRE WARNING today!   Go read the teaser and let me know what you think!

There’s a chance to win a copy of DIRE WARNING on Under The Covers Book Blog - the winner will be chosen on 2/6, so go comment!  I’ll gift the eSpecial to you on release day, 2/7!

*realizes the only punctuation I’ve used in this post are exclamation points and thinks about cutting back on the caffeine*

Well, that was fun…

Not.  OMG – this house is like a magnet for illness lately.  My poor kid got so sick (probably food poisoning) the other night, so, as I said in the comments, I couldn’t pick the contest winners.  So I had my husband pick 2 numbers and the corresponding winners are Viki S. and Debbie Talbot!  Guys, email me with your addresses and I’ll get Dire Needs out to you ASAP!

I have more ARCs to give away (those are advances reading copies, fyi, which means they’re uncorrected galleys but pretty close to what the real version will be barring some wrong words / etc.)  I’m also going to gift some copies of Dire Warning too as soon as the preorder links go up :)

Anyway, you guys had awesome lists of books to be read – most of us have very similar tastes in reading :)

My interview is up at the HEA USA Today Blog!

I was interviewed about SEAL of My Dreams (and other things) over at the USA Today Blog – you can read the whole thing here.  In the month of November (release month) the book earned about $46K for the Veterans Medical Research Foundation, so all the contributing authors are thrilled!!!  Thanks for all your support  - you all went out and bought and talked the antho up – it’s for such a good cause!

So, in honor of that, I’m going to give away two signed ARCs of DIRE NEEDS!  The contest ends at 10PM EST, and all you have to do to be entered is to tell me what upcoming books you’re most looking forward to in the comments below.  I always end up with a huge list of books to buy when I ask this question.

Updates for the new year…

Okay, a few updates before I head back to the deadline cave where I resided for the better half of the last year :)  It’s likely not to change, which is a very, very good thing.

Obviously, my website has been revamped – it’s it gorgeous?!  Waxcreative, as always, exceeded my expectations!  So now it reflected the wolf  as well as the romantic suspenses and I think it ties in so well.

Wax also redid the Sydney Croft page as well!

So, upcoming – and SOON – is the prequel to the Eternal Wolf Clan series – Dire Warning!  It releases February 7th and then Dire Needs:  Book 1 in the EWC series comes out March 6th!

For those who’ve been asking about poor Reid and Grier from Night Moves, yes, I totally plan to do something for them before the new suspense series begins in 2013 – I promise to keep you posted!

Other than that, I’m diving into the first of the new romantic suspense series – the book is currently titled Unbreakable and the series is called Section 8.  I just handed in book 2 in the Eternal Wolf Clan series and I’m getting ready for a blog tour for the upcoming releases.  And, I’m also going to try to blog here more.

Stop laughing.  Just keep staring at Rifter over there on the left.  And I’ll update here for the blog tour because there will be giveaways along the way!  Hope everyone’s doing well and having a good start to 2012 – we had our first dusting of snow last night so it’s finally starting to feel like winter.  I like winter.  Probably because I commute from the bedroom to the kitchen and back…

Dire Needs cover & blurb!!!

First, I can’t thank all of you enough for all the great feedback I’m getting about IN THE AIR TONIGHT (it released Tuesday – you can get more info about the book here!)  I’m so glad so many people are loving Mace and Paige :)

Now, I want to share the cover and blurb for my first NAL paranormal – world, meet Rifter:

DIRE NEEDS:  A Novel of the Eternal Wolf Clan

Book 1

March 6, 2012 / Signet

The full moon is their mistress. They are predators of pleasure and pain. Feared by humans, envied by werewolves, the Dire Wolves are immortal shifters, obeying no laws but their own bestial natures. Once they were many, but now only six remain, a dangerous wolfpack forever on the hunt…

Rifter leads the pack, embracing the lifestyle and ethics of an outlaw biker even as he battles an ancient enemy who has become a new, powerful force. But with his Brother Wolf raging inside him, howling to be unleashed, he needs to satisfy his hungers. And when he meets a drop-dead gorgeous blonde drinking alone in a bar that caters to both human and inhuman, Rifter’s primal instinct is to claim her.

Gwen has her own desires, long unfulfilled. She hopes a passionate night with the leather-clad, Harley-riding biker will ease her suffering. The seizures that have wracked her body her entire life are incurable—and they’re killing her.

But none of that will matter if Rifter can’t stop the growing threat to them all–trappers who are determined to enslave humankind and use the Dire wolves as part of their nefarious plan.

NAL got this cover SO RIGHT!  I’m in love – I mean, this guy IS Rifter.  YAY!!!

Sneak Peeks & Mountain Lions

So this morning my mom’s driving me up to get my bloodwork done (because of this horrible migraine and I don’t drive when I’m on the meds) and she’s telling me about all the mountain lions spotted in Connecticut and New York, like, five minutes away.  Like, where Zoo and Gus run through the nature study woods.

Will the mountain lion play with me?!

And I’m like, you know, I’m betting it’s a family of shifters who moved into the area!

Mom:  What are you talking about?

Me:  A family of mountain lion shifters.  Like, they’re people who can become mountain lions.  How cool is that?

Mom:  You’re really nuts, you know that?

I knew you all would understand.

Anyway, my NAL paranormal series has titles and a series name!  Book one is Dire Needs:  A Novel of the Eternal Wolf Clan and, according to Amazon, it’s available March 6, 2012!  I should have cover copy approved soon (and a cover) but you can find out a little more about the series here.  I’m having a blast writing these books!  Oh, and yes, it’ll be available on Kindle and Nook and such, but sometimes those links take a little longer to go up.

I’ve also got an In The Air Tonight sneak peek up here and a Night Moves sneak peek up here. So lots of sneak peek goodness!

Also, Sydney Croft’s Taken By Fire, ACRO Book 6 got a Top Pick from RT Book Reviews!  Of course, a certain 11 month old shredded the magazine beyond repair so I don’t have the actual review, but it was a great one!

I’m in the middle of writing a couple of proposals and waiting to hear some news on something.  Well, actually, I’ve heard some news, but I can’t share it yet.  So fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly.  I’ll let you all know as soon as I can!

In a couple of weeks, RWA NYC will be upon me, so I’m trying to prep for that.  Larissa and her husband will be staying here for a few days before the conference, too, so it’ll be great to spend some downtime with them before the madness of the conference begins.  The conference is always a bit overwhelming to me but I’m excited to catch up with writing buds and blogging friends I’ll be meeting for the first time!
