Okay, revisions for PROMISES IN THE DARK went in about an hour ago! (big sigh of relief, even though I’m sure I have a bit more to do, but that’s okay – now I just pray my editor likes what I’ve done.)
Speaking of, I don’t have covers yet, but I have cover blurbs for both LIE WITH ME and PROMISES IN THE DARK, so check them out and let me know what you think! I’m really dying to see the new covers…I’m hoping they just blow me away. Bantam’s art department usually does…and I’m trying to be patient. *snorts* Well, as patient as I can be.
I’m also in the process of updating my FAQs page, so in the next couple of weeks, that should be accomplished.
Now, I’ll take a little time off to do things like…well, laundry. And making sure the 10 huge trees that literally ripped out of the roots from the last snowstorm get taken care of and new, large trees replace them so I don’t need to look directly into my neighbor’s kitchen.
Trees are really, really freakin’ expensive.
Anyway, when those fun tasks are taken care of, it’s back to work on Sydney book 6 and Shadow Force Bk 3 (which I’m really excited about because it’s shiny and new and stuff.) Although I might try to sneak in some reading, because I can justify it as part of my job, along with pen orders from staples and my brand new iMac which should arrive tomorrow. Pretty soon, there will be no more PCs in this house and I couldn’t be happier. Loving my Macs. If you’re worried about making the switch because you think it might be complicated, don’t be. It’s the easiest thing in the world, I swear.
Hope you all had a great weekend and you’re having a good day – as good as it can be for a Monday…

The new book blurbs sound fab!!! I’m almost as anxious as you to see the covers.
How’s the migraine?
And I couldn’t agree with you more about the switch from PCs to Macs. I have absolutely zero desire to ever switch back. Macs rock!
Covers are fun!!
Migraine from last week left on Saturday. Kindly replaced by new one about an hour ago but hey, it lifted enough for the revisions, so I can’t complain. I’m reading Kelly Cutrone’s new Book (Do you watch Kell on Earth?) and seriously loving it.
I’m excited for my new desktop…mine took 5 minutes to load my email last night. Um, no, sorry PC….
I love the blurbs!
Hey Bonnie!!!
Me too
I love getting all the new book stuff – it makes my email exciting. Much more fun than, say, revision letters…
Stephanie
The new books sound great! Can’t wait.
Must say, I love reading your blogs-fun and enjoyable.
Thanks
Catherine
*waves to Catherine* (which is my confirmation name, C and all
Zoo & Gus help to give good blog fodder:) I’m glad you’re enjoying…I really have a lot of fun writing my blogs because it’s my ‘home.’ I like facebook, twitter less, but here, I feel like, come sit on the couch and hang out….
Must be a “C” Catherine thing. That’s exactly! what I wanted to convey.
Thanks!!!
Hi Stephanie,
The new book blurbs sound great! Especially Book 1, sounds like the hero has the potential to be a bit darker, more anti-hero because he’s pushed to the edge.
Is this new series totally distanced from the HOLD trilogy? I didn’t recognize Cameron or Zane (but I haven’t read Hold On Tight, yet…I own it though!).
I like the name, Jen X
Cam’s a little bit darker…actually, both hero’s are probably are a bit darker. And yes, you’ll meet Cam in Hold on Tight. Zane’s name was mentioned once in Hard to Hold – he’s a SEAL on Jake’s team, and he’s Cam’s best friend’s brother.
I can’t seem to stop writing brothers
In general, I’ve been calling the Shadow Force series spin-offs from the trilogy – you’re still basically in the same world, with the same feel as the trilogy (still lots of emotion, suspense, etc)…and while the brothers might be mentioned, their stories are pretty well wrapped up. They’re all happy and stuff…
Ooh, I can’t wait to read Cam’s story.
*waves to Jane* Hopefully I’ll have some sneak peeks up soon…
Oh you are going to love your new iMac. We went all Apple on Black Friday. I blame it all on getting an iPhone last September. I resisted one for so long, but once I had one it was a quick ride down a slippery slope to moving to all Apple products.
I should warn you – I felt my iMac was so pretty that I had to repaint and redecorate our office – including buying new furniture and art for the walls. Crazy right?
So excited to hear about new books and can’t wait to read them!!
Samantha, once i got the MacBook (about a year ago, i think) I knew I was a convert! There’s such a difference…and I’m really excited about the nice big screen for the iMac
And I’m laughing about your redecorating around the iMac…mainly because I’m slowly convincing my husband that I need to move my office into the bigger guest room…which will include, repainting, new carpet, new shelves…and a pretty new desk FOR the iMac.
Loved the blurbs…my sister has a Mac but I have a laptop but it’s not in my budget to upgrade yet…hopefully someday
Maria, it’s seriously worth budgeting for – it’ll last you longer than a PC…I’m sorry I resisted for so long.
I do most of my work on the laptop, but I’ve never not had a desktop. Zoo was like, you don’t really need one, but I like having backups, you know?
New blurbs and all how exciting to come see what all is going on. Hope you can get some awesome trees to replace the others because yes there is nothing like staring directly into the neighbors house. (Wait a minute, do not put trees there if you are staring directly into the kitchen maybe some elements of adventure might someday happen to put into one of your books.)
Anyway totally am on board with the IMac and the redecorating to match the pretty shiny…. My sweetie got mine going on 2 years ago and I still have not gotten my own space in the back room with new paint, new carpet and a new desk to present the beautiful computer on!! We can dream right?

Hey Jackie!
OMG – my neighbors are CRAZY! They’re screamers – I always joke that I need to put up a soundproofing wall, like the kind they have along the side of I-95 to block traffic sounds from the houses right near it!
I like our iMac dreams…
Just read a blurb from your upcoming book, Promises in the Dark; my daughter’s name is…Olivia Strohm.
How did you choose the name?
Monica, I emailed you as well, but I figured others might be interested in the answer!
In this case, naming the character Olivia Strohm was kind of…a mistake
Olivia was always the first name – typically my characters kind of come to me first-named. Picking a last name is always a little more challenging.
Anyway, so I’m a big Law & Order fan, always watch the reruns, and on this day I was watching an episode with the ADA played by Elisabeth Rohm. And I was like, that’s a GREAT last name.
And so, in Lie With Me, where you’ll first meet Olivia, she started out Olivia Rohm. And then, like 1/2 through, I must’ve gotten, um, confused, and I put an St on the name. Didn’t realize it until I finished Lie with Me and Promises and my editor was like, um, is her last name Rohm or Strohm?
And I was like, let’s go with what I used more often because it was easier to correct.
Sorry you asked? LOL! Basically, Olivia has your daughter’s name because of my horrid short term memory
But it’s a beautiful name!
