It's hard for me since I read so fast - even a 400p book won't last very long if I have the time to read it. Maria…I read Graceling in abt 6 hours–it’s over 400 pages so probably 125k words. I read The Help in about the same amount of time but I *think* it’s closer to 500 pages. But I can read a normal 300-400 page paperback in about 3 – 4 hours and consider myself a fast reader! Sadly, I get little uninterrupted reading time these days.

They probably want to make sure that the work gives the reader enough material for what they want to charge for the book. I know as a consumer that there is nothing that I hate more than to pay alot for a book and be done with it in like 2 hours. I want it to last. On a side note, your husband Zoo, is a keeper. There's no fudging with pages. I've tried. I always turn in TNR 14 because it lowers the actual page number and just makes it look like maybe my story is shorter. Doesn't work...
