With apologies to skippy

I guess at one point I used the expression, damn straight, skippy, around my mother.  A conversation ensued in which my mother asked who this skippy was.

I tried to explain that it was just an expression (trust me, this took a while) and then she said, I’m going to start using it.

Except she couldn’t remember it.  At least not correctly.  So she’s been walking around, saying, suck it, smitty.

*shrugs* Maybe she’ll start a new trend.

  1. OMG- she must be related to my mother. I’ve said things and then she tries to repeat it but gets it all wrong. It’s especially funny when its a swear phrase. Crazy.

  2. That is TOO funny. My poor husband can’t get a saying right for the life of him. It is funny to hear how he butchers a common saying. for example “The Grimm Reefer.” I aint joking. He doesnt do it on purpose.

    • Brandy, I’m scared to know…she probably walks around saying it under her breath to people – and she’s got one of those stage whispers, you know?

  3. My mom has always called one baking item “confederate sugar.” As a kid I didn’t know it was wrong until I read the box one day and realized the real word was “confectioner’s.”
